Cannabis Youth Therapy |
|
The Cannabis Youth
Therapy, (CYT) Series was developed to address the
needs of the marijuana-using adolescents and their
family. Santa Fe Adolescent Services has partnered with
Tarrant County Juvenile Services, and Arlington ISD to integrate CYT into the continuum of
treatment services available to juveniles in Drug
Court and schools, and focuses specifically on the adolescent whose
primary drug of choice is Marijuana. |
|
Program Overview
Cannabis Youth TherapyProgram
was developed after a research project funded by
the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA)
demonstrated that combining parent and youth
skills training with family skills training was
more effective in decreasing risk factors than
either parent training or youth training only.
It has been selected by NIDA as one of the 10
exemplary delinquency prevention programs in the
nation and has been tested, evaluated, and
replicated in a variety of settings. The target
population are youth who have been charged with
non-violent misdemeanor or felony drug
possession offenses, are between the ages twelve
and seventeen, and have no previous adjudication
history. |
